Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information EthicalFusion (ethicalfusion.com) collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. If you have a question about it, write to us through the contact page.

Files and text you use in our tools

Most tools on EthicalFusion run entirely in your web browser. When you paste text, upload an image or open a PDF in one of these tools, the processing happens on your own device and the content is not sent to our server.

A small number of tools, such as the hash generators, need our server to do the work. For these, the text you submit is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, processed in memory and returned to you. We do not save that input.

YouTube tools

Our YouTube tools, such as the live subscriber and view counters, look up public channel and video statistics using the YouTube API Services. The channel or video you search for is sent from our server to YouTube. We keep a record of these searches (the search term, the time and your IP address) to monitor usage and prevent abuse. By using these tools you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Information we record automatically

• Page visits. For each page view we record the page address, your IP address, the time, and the referring website if you arrived from another site. We use this to measure traffic and spot abuse, and these records are deleted automatically after 30 days.
• Tool usage counts. We count how many times each tool is opened per day. These totals are not linked to you.
• Helpful / not helpful votes. A vote adds one to that tool's total. It is not linked to your IP address; your browser simply remembers that you have voted.
• Promotion and affiliate clicks. When our promotional pop-up is shown, opened or clicked, we record the event, the time and your IP address. When you follow an affiliate link we add one to that link's click count.
• Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.

Contact form

If you write to us, we store your name, email address, subject, message and IP address so that we can reply and filter out spam. We use your email address only to answer you, and we will delete your messages on request.

Cookies and browser storage

• Necessary cookies: a session cookie and a security token that let forms such as the contact form work safely.
• Preferences: your light or dark theme, the tools you save as favourites and your helpful votes are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and you can clear them in your browser settings.
• Offline copies: the site uses a service worker that keeps copies of pages you have visited on your device, so they can still open if your connection drops.
• Analytics and advertising cookies: set by Google Analytics and our advertising partners, described below.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which tools are popular and which devices people use. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location and your device type. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We show ads to keep the tools free. Ads are served by Google AdSense and may also be served by other advertising partners.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Affiliate links and our own services

Some links on the site are marked "Sponsored". These are affiliate links: if you buy something through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. We also promote our own separate services. Websites you reach through these links have their own privacy policies.

Children

EthicalFusion is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can use every tool without creating an account. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, clear its local storage, and opt out of personalised ads and analytics using the links above. To ask what we hold about you, or to have your contact messages deleted, use the contact page.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
