How to Merge PDF Files for Free (No Upload, No Watermark)

Application portals want "a single PDF". Your documents are five separate files. Most online mergers solve this by making you upload your ID proofs and bank statements to their servers — which is exactly backwards for sensitive documents. Here's the private way.

Getting the page order right

Files merge in the order you select them, and file pickers usually sort alphabetically. The reliable trick: rename your files with number prefixes first — 01-application.pdf, 02-photo.pdf, 03-idproof.pdf, 04-certificates.pdf — then select all. The output follows the numbers every time.

When the merged file is too big

Merging adds sizes together, and portals also cap total size.
