QR Code Generator

QR Code Generator turns a link or any piece of text into a square code that phone cameras can scan, and lets you download the image for flyers, visiting cards, menus, product labels and presentation slides. The code updates as you type, and the content is stored inside the pattern itself, so it keeps working for as long as the link or text it contains is valid.

Creating and downloading a code

Type or paste into the Text or URL box. A preview appears after a short pause, or you can press Generate QR Code. Before downloading, choose a Size: Small, Medium, Large and Extra large set how many pixels each black or white square (called a module) gets. The final image width also depends on how much you encode, because longer content needs more modules.

The widths above are for https://ethicalfusion.com, which fits in a 25 × 25 module grid (QR version 2). A 64-character product URL with a couple of parameters needs 37 × 37 modules, so the same setting gives a larger, denser image.

What you can encode

• Web links: include https:// so scanners treat it as a link rather than plain text.
• Phone and email: tel:+919876543210 opens the dialler, and mailto:orders@example.com starts a new email.
• Wi-Fi access: text in the form WIFI:T:WPA;S:CafeGuest;P:chai1234;; lets Android and iPhone cameras offer to join the network.
• Plain text: a serial number, a short instruction or a message, including text in Hindi and other scripts.

UPI IDs are the exception. A code containing only something like name@okbank shows up as text and won't open a payment screen, and the tool warns you when it spots one. Use the UPI QR generator instead, which builds the proper upi://pay link.

Printing codes that scan first time

• Leave a white margin. Scanners need a clear border around the code, ideally about four modules wide. The downloaded image has only a thin white edge, so add space around it in your design, especially on coloured or patterned backgrounds.
• Size it for the scanning distance. A common rule of thumb is a code width of at least a tenth of the distance it will be scanned from, and around 2 cm as a practical minimum for cards and table tents.
• Enlarge without blurring. Extra large at 508 px prints about 4.3 cm wide at 300 dpi. For posters, scale it up in your design software with nearest-neighbour resampling so the squares stay sharp.
• Keep contrast high and the pattern clear. Use dark modules on a light background and avoid pasting a logo over the centre; these codes use medium error correction, which can recover roughly 15% of damaged data.
• Test a printed proof with two different phones, one Android and one iPhone, before ordering hundreds of copies.

Static codes and the question of expiry

These are static codes with no redirect service in between, so there is nothing to expire and no subscription to keep paying. The trade-off is that the destination can't be edited after printing. If the link might change, encode an address on your own website that you can later redirect, rather than a long third-party URL. Codes are generated in your browser, so the text you encode isn't sent anywhere.
