The Weight Converter changes a mass between kilogram, gram, milligram, tonne, pound and ounce. People use it for body weight shown in pounds on gym machines or foreign websites, parcel and luggage limits, medicine strengths in milligrams and recipe quantities in ounces.
How the conversion works
Enter a number in Value, choose its unit under From, select the unit you need under To and press Convert. The tool expresses your value in kilograms and then divides by the target unit. You see the main answer followed by the same mass in the other five units, up to six decimal places.

The pound has been exactly 0.45359237 kg since 1959. The ounce is the everyday avoirdupois ounce, one-sixteenth of a pound; its exact value is 28.349523125 g and the tool rounds it to nine decimal places. That rounding shows up only in the far decimals: 150 pounds converts to 2,400.000011 ounces rather than a clean 2,400. The tonne here is the metric tonne of 1,000 kg, not the US short ton or UK long ton.
Worked example: 70 kg in pounds
Enter 70, From kilogram, To pound:
70 ÷ 0.45359237 = 154.323584 lb
The rows add 70,000 g, 0.07 tonne and 2,469.177347 oz. A quick mental check: a kilogram is about 2.2 pounds, and 70 × 2.2 = 154. The same arithmetic explains airline baggage rules that pair 23 kg with 50 lb: 23 kg is 50.706 lb.
Milligrams on medicine labels
A 500 mg tablet converts to 0.5 g and 0.017637 oz. The tonne row shows 0 because half a millionth of a tonne is too small to survive rounding to six decimals.
Gold, tola and the troy ounce
Gold and silver are priced internationally per troy ounce, which is 31.1034768 g. The ounce in this converter is the smaller avoirdupois ounce of about 28.35 g, and a troy ounce is about 9.7% heavier, so mixing the two up skews any gold calculation by roughly that much. In India, gold rates are quoted per 10 grams, and 10 g converts here to 0.35274 avoirdupois ounces. The traditional tola, about 11.66 g, is not in the list; enter its value in grams instead.
Other units you may need
- Quintal: crop prices, including minimum support prices, are announced per quintal. A quintal is 100 kg, or 0.1 tonne.
- Stone: British body weights are sometimes given in stones of 14 pounds. Multiply by 14 and convert as pounds.
- Carat: gemstones use a metric carat of 0.2 g, which you can enter as grams.
