The Days Until Calculator counts the calendar days between today and a date you choose, and shows the same gap in weeks. Pick a future date to see how many days remain, or a past one to see how many days have gone by since. Students use it for exam countdowns, families for weddings and trips, and working people for notice periods, renewals and due dates.
How the count works
Choose a Target date and press Count days. The calculator takes today's date from your device, sets both dates to midnight and counts the whole days between them. That leads to a few simple rules:
- Today's date gives 0 days, and tomorrow gives 1 day.
- The time at which you open the page makes no difference, because only dates are compared.
- For a date in the past the heading changes from "Days remaining" to "Days since", and the number is shown as a positive count.
- The Weeks line is the day count divided by 7, rounded to one decimal.
Because the count runs on real calendar dates, month lengths and 29 February in leap years are included automatically.
A worked countdown
Opened on 15 October 2026 with a target of 25 December 2026, the calculator shows 71 days and 10.1 weeks. You can check it by hand:
- Rest of October after the 15th: 31 − 15 = 16 days.
- All of November: 30 days.
- December up to the 25th: 25 days.
- Total: 16 + 30 + 25 = 71 days, and 71 ÷ 7 = 10.14 weeks.
On the same day, 1 January 2027 is 78 days away, 31 March 2027 is 167 days away, and 15 August 2026 shows as 61 days since.
Should you add one day?
The tool answers "how many days from today until that date", which leaves out one end of the period. Whether you need to add 1 depends on the question you are really asking:

Legal and contractual deadlines such as "within 30 days from the date of notice" have their own counting rules, and the wording of the document decides whether the first day counts. When money or penalties depend on it, confirm with the office that set the deadline.
Turning the number into a plan
A bare countdown becomes useful once you divide it up. Say an exam falls on 15 February 2027. Checked on 15 October 2026, the tool shows 123 days, or 17.6 weeks. Keep the last two weeks for revision and mock tests and you have about 15 weeks for new material. With 30 chapters still to cover, that is two chapters a week. Taking one day off each week leaves roughly 105 study days (123 × 6 ÷ 7).
The same approach works for money. From 15 October 2026, 31 March 2027 is 167 days away, just under 24 weeks, so a ₹60,000 target needs about ₹2,500 a week. The savings goal calculator turns a target and a time frame into a monthly figure if that suits your pay cycle better.
Things the calculator does not do
- Working days. Weekends and public holidays are counted like any other day. For office deadlines, the business days calculator counts Monday to Friday only.
- Two dates that are not today. The start is always today. To count from a joining date to a relieving date, for example, use the date difference calculator.
- Months. Only days and weeks are shown. For a rough month figure, divide the days by 30.44, the average month length; 167 days is about 5.5 months.
- Hours and minutes. The count is in whole days, so it does not tick down through the day.
Because "today" comes from your device, a phone set to the wrong date, or to another country's time zone, can shift the result by a day around midnight. If two people see different counts for the same target, compare the dates on their devices first.
