Delete Pages from PDF removes the pages you list and gives you a new PDF containing everything else, in the original order. Type the pages into the Pages to delete box, press Delete pages, then download. It is the quickest fix for a blank page from the scanner, a duplicate sheet, or an instructions page a portal does not want.
How to write the page list
- Single pages separated by commas:
2,9,14 - Ranges with a hyphen, lower number first:
5-7 - A mix of both:
1,5-7,20. Spaces are fine, and the order you type them in does not matter.
Numbers beyond the last page are skipped silently, and so is a backwards range such as 7-5, so always write ranges low to high. If nothing in the box matches a real page, the error message tells you how many pages the file has. If your list covers every page, you get a warning instead of an empty file.
Worked example
A 20-page admission bundle has a blank page at the start, pages 5 to 7 scanned twice by mistake, and an unwanted checklist as page 20. Enter 1,5-7,20. Five pages go, and the new file has 15 pages: the old pages 2, 3 and 4 followed by 8 to 19.
Page positions, not printed page numbers
The numbers you type refer to where a page sits in the file, counting the first page as 1. They ignore whatever is printed on the page. In a thesis with a cover and roman-numbered front matter, printed "page 1" might be the seventh page of the file. Check your viewer's page counter, which shows positions, before typing the list. To see the total at a glance, use the PDF page counter.
If the document already has page numbers stamped on it, deleting pages leaves gaps in that numbering. Delete first and add numbers afterwards.
Delete or extract?
This tool is the right choice when you are dropping a few pages. When you want to keep only a handful out of many, listing the keepers is shorter: Split PDF takes the pages you want to keep and saves just those.
What happens to the pages you keep
The remaining pages are copied into a fresh document unchanged, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality. Bookmarks from the original are not carried across. The file usually gets smaller, most noticeably when the deleted pages held large scanned images. Your original file is not altered; the result is a separate download, so you can always start again. The processing happens in your browser rather than on a server.
