Thanks for the feedback!

Random Username Generator turns a word you like into ten ready-made handles, each combining an adjective, your word and a noun with a number on the end. It helps when your first choice is already taken on a new gaming account, forum, Discord server or app and you want a batch of distinctive alternatives to try.

How each name is put together

Type a word into the box and press Generate. Every suggestion follows the pattern adjective_yourword_noun plus a number from 1 to 99. The adjective is picked at random from a list of 15 (cosmic, silent, crimson, golden, swift, lunar, pixel, neon, shadow, frost, wild, urban, epic, retro, hyper) and the noun from another 15 (wolf, falcon, tiger, nova, rider, coder, ninja, phoenix, viper, ranger, spark, ghost, drift, blaze, storm).

Your word is cleaned before use: it is lowercased, accents are removed, and anything other than letters and digits is dropped, including spaces. With the box left empty you get shorter two-part names such as swift_coder17. Each press of Generate gives a fresh random batch and earlier ones are not kept, so copy the names you like as you go.

Example batch

Entering Arya Sharma produced, among others:

crimson_aryasharma_ghost86
hyper_aryasharma_tiger13
golden_aryasharma_phoenix67
lunar_aryasharma_storm7
epic_aryasharma_ghost4

These range from 22 to 27 characters, which is fine on some platforms and too long on others. Your own results will differ because the words and numbers are drawn at random.

Matching each platform's rules

PlatformLengthAllowed characters
X (Twitter)Up to 15Letters, numbers, underscore
Reddit3 to 20Letters, numbers, underscore, hyphen
Discord2 to 32Lowercase letters, numbers, underscore, period
Gmail address6 to 30Letters, numbers, period

Two practical consequences follow. For X, use a very short word or none at all: even without a word, the names run from 10 to 17 characters, so pick one of 15 or fewer. For a Gmail address, underscores aren't accepted, so replace them with periods, as in golden.rider26. Gmail ignores periods when delivering mail, so that address and goldenrider26 reach the same inbox. For Instagram's specific limits, see the Instagram Username Generator.

Choosing a handle you won't regret

  • Say it out loud. If you'd have to spell it out on a voice call ("underscore, then aryasharma, then another underscore"), a simpler version will be shared more easily.
  • Drop the number where you can. Numbers make a handle look auto-generated and are easy to mistype.
  • Keep personal data out. For accounts linked to your real identity, avoid birth years, phone digits or your full address area.
  • Confirm availability on the platform. The generator has no access to any site's user list, so a suggestion may already belong to someone else.

If you need a password for the new account as well, the Password Generator creates one.

Frequently asked questions

Does the generator check whether a username is available?
No. It only creates suggestions. Try the name on the platform's sign-up or profile screen to see whether it is free.
Why were the spaces and symbols removed from my word?
Most platforms don't allow spaces or special characters in usernames, so only letters and digits are kept. For example, "Chai & Chats" becomes "chaichats".
Can I use a Hindi word as the base?
Characters from scripts such as Devanagari are removed because the word is reduced to a-z and 0-9. Type the word in Roman letters instead, for example "dosti".
How do I get a shorter username?
Use a shorter base word, or leave the box empty for two-part names of 10 to 17 characters. You can also delete the number or one word from any suggestion.
Could someone else get the same suggestion?
Yes, it's possible, because the word lists are small and the picks are random. That is another reason to check availability before you commit to a name.
