Signature Maker

Signature Maker gives you a drawing pad for your handwritten signature and saves it as a PNG image you can place on letters, invoices, forms and PDFs. Sign with a mouse, a finger on your phone or a stylus, then download it with a transparent background or on plain white.

Drawing a signature that looks natural

The controls sit above the pad. Pen color opens a colour picker (the default is a very dark navy), and Thickness is a slider from 1 to 8 that starts at 3. Undo removes only your most recent stroke, which is useful when a single letter goes wrong, while Clear wipes the whole pad.

• A finger on a phone or tablet, or a stylus, produces a far more natural line than a mouse or laptop trackpad.
• Sign large and use most of the pad. Shrinking an image later keeps it sharp; enlarging it does not.
• Thickness 2 or 3 looks like a ballpoint pen once the image is reduced to signature size, while 5 and above looks more like a marker.
• Some offices prefer blue signatures because they stand out from black printed text; pick a mid blue in the colour picker if you need that.
• A quick tap without any movement isn't recorded, so dots and full stops need a tiny flick of the finger or pen to appear.
• Colour and thickness apply to strokes drawn after you change them. To recolour a finished signature, clear the pad and sign again.

Transparent or white background

Download (transparent) saves only the ink, so the signature sits on a document's signature line without a white box covering the line underneath. This is the right choice for Word, Google Docs and most PDF editors. Download (white background) fills the empty area with white, which suits upload portals that reject transparency or display images on a dark background. Both buttons save a file named signature.png.

The export covers the entire pad rather than just your strokes, at twice its on-screen width and 520 pixels tall. That extra resolution keeps the edges crisp, but you will usually want to crop the empty space before inserting it; in Word, select the picture and use Crop on the Picture Format tab.

Recruitment and exam application forms in India often ask for the signature as a JPG within a stated file size and pixel size. JPG has no transparency, so download the white-background version, convert it with the PNG to JPG Converter, and then bring it to the required dimensions with the Image Resizer. Placing it on documents

1. In Word or Google Docs, insert the file as an image, set its wrapping to "In front of text", and drag it onto the signature line.
2. In a PDF editor, use the option to add an image or stamp, position the signature, then save or print to a new PDF so it can't be moved around easily.
3. Store the PNG somewhere private. Anyone who has the file can paste your signature onto a document.

Drawing and exporting happen entirely on your device, and the signature is never sent to a server.

When an image signature isn't enough

A pasted image is widely accepted for routine paperwork such as internal approvals, quotations, rent receipts and school forms, but it doesn't prove who applied it. Under India's Information Technology Act, 2000, the signatures with specific legal recognition are digital signatures backed by a certificate (DSC) and notified electronic signature methods such as Aadhaar-based eSign. Portals like MCA company filings expect a DSC, and agreements where the signer's identity matters are better completed through an eSign service.
