Thanks for the feedback!

Instagram Money Calculator estimates what a creator might charge for one sponsored feed post and one story, based on follower count and engagement rate. It gives a starting range in US dollars for pricing brand collaborations, which you can then adjust for your niche, audience and the work involved.

How the estimate is calculated

  1. Base rate: $10 for every 1,000 followers.
  2. Engagement multiplier: the base is adjusted by your engagement rate, as shown below.
  3. Range: the low end is 0.75 times the adjusted base and the high end is 1.5 times.
  4. Story rate: 40% of the post range.
Engagement rateMultiplier
Below 1%0.7
1% to just under 3%1.0
3% to just under 6%1.2
6% and above1.5

If you leave Engagement rate % (optional) blank, the tool assumes a typical rate for your size: 4% under 10,000 followers, 2.4% from 10,000 to 99,999, and 1.6% at 100,000 and above. Work out your real figure with the Engagement Rate Calculator for a better estimate.

Worked examples

10,000 followers at 3% engagement: base = 10,000 ÷ 1,000 × $10 = $100. Multiplied by 1.2 that's $120, so the post range is $120 × 0.75 = $90 to $120 × 1.5 = $180, and a story $36 to $72. At an assumed rate of ₹85 to the dollar, the post range works out to about ₹7,650 to ₹15,300; check today's rate with the Currency Converter.

Engagement changes the picture. An account with 50,000 followers at 6.5% gets $500 × 1.5 = $750, a range of $562.50 to $1,125. One with 250,000 followers at only 0.8% gets $2,500 × 0.7 = $1,750, or $1,312.50 to $2,625. The bigger account still earns more per post, but it's only about 2.3 times as much despite having five times the followers.

What moves real rates up or down

  • Deliverables: a Reel with scripting and editing, several stories, or a link in bio for a week each cost more than a single photo post.
  • Usage rights and exclusivity: letting a brand run your content as an ad, or agreeing not to work with competitors for a period, should be priced separately.
  • Audience fit and location: a brand selling in Mumbai cares about how many of your followers are in Mumbai, which Insights can show.
  • Proof of results: past campaign screenshots, such as link clicks and code redemptions, strengthen a higher quote.

Treat the output as a rough, market-style estimate, not financial or tax advice.

Paperwork for Indian creators

ASCI's guidelines for influencer advertising require a clear label on paid or gifted content, such as "Ad", "Sponsored" or "Collaboration", and Instagram's Paid partnership tag makes the relationship visible. Brand income is taxable, and since July 2022 businesses must deduct TDS under Section 194R when benefits or free products given to you in a financial year exceed ₹20,000. Keep a simple record of every deal, product and invoice from the start.

Frequently asked questions

How much can I earn from Instagram with 10,000 followers?
With 3% engagement, this calculator estimates $90 to $180 per sponsored post and $36 to $72 per story. Actual rates depend on niche, deliverables and audience quality.
Why are the results in dollars instead of rupees?
The formula uses US dollar base rates. Convert the range at the current exchange rate, for example with a currency converter, to quote in rupees.
What engagement rate does it use if I leave the field blank?
It assumes 4% for accounts under 10,000 followers, 2.4% for 10,000 to 99,999, and 1.6% for 100,000 or more.
Is a story really worth less than a feed post?
Stories disappear after 24 hours unless saved as highlights, so they are usually priced lower. This calculator sets them at 40% of the post rate.
Do I have to disclose paid Instagram posts in India?
Yes. ASCI guidelines require clear disclosure of paid or gifted collaborations, and Instagram's Paid partnership label should be used as well.
